2 way SMS Campaigns
2 way SMS Campaigns can look easy but it is a daunting task of verifying who is behind the phone of the recipients. Phone numbers can change and needs to be verified of who you are sending the message to is actually who they are.
We had a project to build a 2 way SMS Campaign to send its loyal customers $40 e-vouchers via SMS provided the below criteria are met:
Send out a promotional SMS from a list of database
Verify the SMS recipient by them responding with their last 6-digit NRIC number
If the recipient's number matches the 6-digit NRIC number, AND
The recipient has never redeemed the e-voucher, THEN
Send an SMS with the promotional code of $40 for the recipient to redeem at a shop
If the recipient's number does not match the 6-digit NRIC number, send another SMS saying that verification failed, please call the customer service number
If the recipient has already redeemed the e-voucher and is doing it for the second time, send an SMS saying that the voucher has been redeemed.
Below are the sample scenarios we have built for the client:
Flow 1
Send SMS from the list from the database
2 way SMS Keyword is "LI"
Wait for reply
Checks mobile number with NRIC responded
If mobile number = last 6 digit NRIC & e-voucher is not redeemed
Send congratulatory message with e-voucher for them to redeem.
Flow 2
Send SMS from the list from the database
2 way SMS Keyword is "LI"
Wait for reply
Checks mobile number with NRIC responded
If mobile number is not equal to last 6 digit NRIC
Send apology SMS
Flow 3
Send SMS from the list from the database
2 way SMS Keyword is "LI"
Wait for reply
Checks mobile number with NRIC responded
If mobile number is equal to last 6 digit NRIC BUT has already redeemed the e-voucher
Send SMS that e-voucher has already been redeemed.
